Dr. Wang inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences

Dr. Yuzhuo Wang was inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. He received the honour in a presentation by Dr. Linda Rabeneck, President of the CAHS in a ceremony held in Vancouver on September 13 at the Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel, Vancouver, BC.  You can view the full CAHS annoucment here; the entry for Dr. Wang is:

Dr. Yuzhuo Wang is a Professor at UBC, a distinguished scientist at B.C. Cancer, and a senior research scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre. A brilliant theoretical biologist, Dr. Wang is internationally recognized for fundamental discoveries in cancer research, including his unique patient-derived xenograft models. His discoveries have advanced our understanding of cancer biology and are currently being translated into clinical applications. He is committed to training the next generation of cancer researchers and to building an international network of research collaborators.

The Canadian Academy of Health Sciences provides independent, objective, evidence-based analyses of health challenges that inform both public and private sectors in decision-making about policy, practice and investment. Induction into the CAHS as a Fellow is considered one of the highest honours within Canada’s academic community. CAHS Fellows, who serve as unpaid volunteers, are nominated by their institutions and peers and selected in a competitive process based on their internationally recognized leadership, academic performance, scientific creativity and willingness to serve. These Fellows, drawn from all disciplines across our nation’s universities, healthcare and research institutes, evaluate Canada’s most complex health challenges and recommend strategic, actionable solutions.
