Dr. Gibb currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He is also a Senior Research Scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre. Dr. Gibb leads a translational research program that leverages genomic and bioinformatic approaches to investigate bladder and prostate cancer. His overarching goal is to develop innovative prognostic and predictive biomarkers to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment outcomes.

Before joining the Vancouver Prostate Centre, Dr. Gibb held the role of Principal Scientist and Bladder Cancer Lead at Veracyte, Inc., where he worked to advance molecular diagnostics for bladder cancer. His leadership in the development and commercialization of the Decipher Bladder test, which secured full Medicare coverage, helps to significantly improve patient care. Additionally, Dr. Gibb’s contributions also led to the expansion of the Genomic Resource Information Database (GRID), a key resource for advancing bladder cancer research.

At the Vancouver Prostate Centre, Dr. Gibb focuses on evaluating bladder tumor heterogeneity to enhance our understanding of bladder cancer biology and its clinical behavior, including the mechanisms underlying treatment resistance. While the lab primarily emphasizes transcriptome-based approaches, it also integrates DNA-based and imaging technologies. This work involves close collaboration with a global network of clinicians and scientists from Canada, the United States, and beyond.
