Dr Peter M Brown

Peter Brown (OBC, LL.D., LittD) founded Canaccord Financial Inc. (and its predecessors) in 1968 which now operates as a publicly traded investment dealer under the name of Canaccord Genuity Group with major operations in Canada, USA and Europe.  Peter Brown is currently serving as Chairman of the Board for the Fraser Institute and is Chairman Emeritus of the Investment Industry Association of Canada.  As well, he is British Columbia’s representative on the Advisory Committee to the Canadian Securities Transition Office to lead the transition to a single Canadian securities regulator.  

Mr. Brown is the Honorary Chairman of the fund drive for the Emily Carr University of Art & Design and is the past Chairman of the Vancouver Police Foundation.   Peter Brown has been awarded several awards over the years including Ernst & Young’s Pacific Entrepreneur of the Year, the Ernst & Young’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Order of British Columbia and Honorary Degrees from the University of British Columbia, Emily Carr University of Art & Design, The Justice Institute of British Columbia and Wilfred Laurier University.  He has been inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, the Business Laureates of BC Hall of Fame and the Investment Industry Association Hall of Fame.  Mr.  Brown has received both the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals.  Peter Brown has served on the boards of numerous private sector and crown corporations and currently sits on the board of Keg Restaurants Ltd. and as a Trustee of the BC Business Council.
