CIHR Grant Awards – Recent Recipients

We would like to acknowledge the following researchers who have been awarded Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) project grants in the latest funding competition. Each project has received five years of funding support:
- Drs. Artem Cherkasov and Natalie Strynadka, with co-investigators Drs. David Huntsman and Poul Sorensen, for the project “Structure-based design of small molecule inhibitors of the transsulfuration pathway in Ewing Sarcoma.”
- Dr. Christopher Ong, with co-investigators Drs. Artem Cherkasov and Yuzhuo Wang, for the project, “Targeting Epigenetic Phenotypic Switching to Overcome Prostate Cancer Treatment Resistance.”
- Dr. Mads Daugaard, with co-investigators Drs. Nadar Al Nakouzi, Martin Gleave, Htoo Zarni OO, and Yuzhuo Wang, for the project, “Therapeutic antibodies targeting oncofetal glycosaminoglycans in prostate cancer.”
- Dr. Nathan Lack, with co-investigators Drs. Faraz Hach and Wilbert Zwart, for the project, "Molecular drivers of androgen receptor activity in castrate resistant prostate cancer."
- Dr. Miles Mannas, with co-investigators Drs. Ali Bashashati, Eric Belanger, Peter Black, Ewan Gibb, Martin Gleave, Htoo Zarni OO, and Amina Zoubeidi, for the project, "Stimulated Raman Histology for Real-Time Identification and Risk Stratification of Prostate Cancer."
