Congratulations to Kerim Yavuz – VCHRI 2025 Rising Star Award Recipient
Congratulations to Kerim Yavuz from Dr. Nathan Lack's laboratory in VPC on receiving the VCHRI 2025 Rising Star Award. This award celebrates the exceptional achievements of VCHRI trainees who demonstrate outstanding research excellence, leadership, and a meaningful impact on the Vancouver Coastal Health and University of British Columbia research community.
Kerim Yavuz is a dedicated researcher whose work exemplifies rigorous scientific inquiry and a strong commitment to advancing cancer research. His research explores how the androgen receptor regulates gene expression in castration-resistant prostate cancer, with a focus on transcription factors and enhancers that contribute to treatment resistance. He also investigates the role of androgen receptor coregulators, aiming to identify new therapeutic targets that could improve outcomes for patients with advanced prostate cancer.
In addition to his research accomplishments, Kerim has secured funding from the Cancer Research Society and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Canada. He is also actively involved in community engagement, contributing to fundraising and outreach efforts through the Vancouver Prostate Centre Trainee Committee.
We commend Kerim for his remarkable contributions and leadership, and we look forward to seeing the continued impact of his work in the years ahead.
