Dr. Dong promoted to Professor
Congratulations to Dr. Xuesen Dong on his recent promotion to Professor in the Department of Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Dr. Dong's research focuses on the mechanisms of RNA splicing that alter prostate cancer cell characteristics, shifting them from a luminal epithelium lineage to a neuroendocrine lineage. His work specifically examines how the RNA splicing factors and RNA binding proteins influence various epigenetic modifiers, transcription factors, and kinases, facilitating prostate tumor progression to the lethal therapy-resistant stage. His endeavor also led to the discovery of first-in-class small molecule inhibitors targeting Lin28 and TOP2 for cancer therapy.
This promotion is a testament to Dr. Dong's significant contributions to both teaching and research, underscoring his remarkable academic career thus far.
