Dr. Wyatt Leads the Charge in Decoding Aggressive Prostate Cancer

Date Posted

Scientist at Vancouver Prostate Centre, Dr. Alexander Wyatt along with Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, are exploring a cutting-edge method called plasma cell-free chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (cfChIP-seq). This novel technology analyzes small fragments of tumour DNA (circulating tumour DNA) in blood samples from patients with advanced prostate or bladder cancers. By studying molecular markers on nucleosome proteins—key components in DNA packaging and gene regulation—the researchers aim to uncover why some prostate cancers are more aggressive. This method could lead to new ways of differentiating prostate cancers and understanding their genetic behavior.
