Dr. Zoubeidi interviewed for International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Dr. Amina Zoubeidi

Dr. Amina Zoubeidi was featured in articles on VCHRI News and Prostate Cancer Canada on February 11, 2019, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

The VCHRI News article, "Ask an expert: Who runs the (science) world?" contains interviews with three researchers at VCHRI who share their experiences and offer advice for the next generation of women scientists.

The Prostate Cancer Canada article, "First of its kind treatment for incurable prostate cancer" discusses Dr. Zoubeidi's discovery of BRN2 and work on the development of a BRN2 blocker for the treatment of neuroendocrine prostate cancer. This was the first female-lead project to receive a Translation Acceleration Grant from Prostate Cancer Canada and Movember. Additionally, Dr. Zoubedi and Dr. Beltran of Weill Cornell Medicine were awarded a 2017 Prostate Cancer Foundation Challenge Award for further BRN2 research.

Dr. Zoubeidi is a Senior Research Scientist, Vancouver Prostate Centre and Associate Professor, Department of Urologic Sciences, UBC. She has received many awards throughout her career, most recently receiving the 2018 UBC Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Basic Science Research.

The 10th Anniversary West Coast Motorcycle Ride to Live is taking place in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley on May 26 (Victoria date to be finalized), with details on the event and how to register on the event website.  This fundraiser for Prostate Cancer Foundation BC includes a 50/50 raffle open to all BC residents over age 19.
