Vancouver, BC - Sustained Therapeutics (the “Company”) announced today regulatory clearance for a pivotal Phase II/III human trial of its second product, a novel medication for the treatment of a rare form of cancer. Upper Tract Urethral Carcinoma (“UTUC”) is an orphan disease, a malignancy of the cells lining the renal pelvis. It affects about 6,000 patients each year in North America.

Vancouver, B.C. – A new clinical trial is currently recruiting men struggling with a painful, but not uncommon, condition: chronic scrotal pain. The Phase II study is testing an important new therapeutic approach to treat this condition at our centre in Vancouver and in other locations across Canada including  Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal and plans to enroll 63 people over the next six months.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation established the Young Investigator Awards initiative to identify the next generation of prostate cancer research leaders who will contribute innovative ideas to the field. This program aims to maintain the vibrancy of the prostate cancer research community by supporting promising scientists in their pursuit of new discoveries. Karan Parekh (PhD student) has been honored with the Canadian Cancer Society's Research Training Award; a platform designed to nurture the next generation of cancer researchers in Canada.  This award allows him to conduct ground-breaking research specifically on liquid biopsy ctDNA analysis for late-stage prostate cancer treatment responses. Under the mentorship of Dr. Alexander Wyatt, this award provides him with the opportunity to establish connections within Canada's cancer research community, fostering interdisciplinary exposure, knowledge translation, engagement, and mentorship.
