VPC investigators awarded three CIHR Spring 2021 Project Grants

Projects lead by Drs. Dong, Nappi and Wyatt were awarded Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) research grants in the Spring 2021 Project Grant competition, for a total of $1.72 million over five years.
The funded projects are:
- Dr. Xuesen Dong (co-investigators: Dr. Artem Cherkasov, Dr. Nada Lallous, and Dr. Martin Gleave): Design a Double-Bolt Lock to Control Cancer Cell Growth. 5 years. $910,350
- Dr. Lucia Nappi and Dr. C. Kollmannsberger: Detection of early relapse using circulating miR371a-3p in patients with clinical stage I testicular germ cell tumors. 1 year. $76,500 (Note: this was the top-rated grant within its ranking group)
- Dr. Alexander Wyatt, Dr. Kim Nguyen Chi and Prof. Piet Ost (co-investigators: Dr. M. Gleave, Dr. E. Kwan): Genomic dissection of de novo metastatic prostate cancer prior to treatment. 3 years. $734,400
