Dr. Eigl is a medical oncologist specializing in genitourinary oncology, with a special research interest in bladder and prostate cancers.  He presently leads several clinical trials evaluating novel therapies such as antisense oligonucleotides and oncolytic viruses in these disease settings.  He is active in national and international clinical trials and is a member of the National Cancer Institute of Canada GU Clinical Trials Group and Canadian Uro-Oncology Group.

Dr. Eigl rejoined the Prostate Centre in 2012.  After completing a research fellowship here in 2004, he took a leadership position in genitourinary research in Calgary, Alberta.  During his tenure there he was the Head of the Genitourinary Tumor Research Group, Medical Director of theClinical Trials Unit, and the Director of the Alberta Clinical Cancer Research Unit (ACCRU).

In returning to British Columbia, Dr. Eigl has taken on a provincial leadership role for systemic therapy clinical trials, which provides access to clinical trials for all cancer patients in British Columbia through the six regional cancer centres.
