Dr Morgan Roberts
- Senior Research Scientist, Vancouver Prostate Centre
- Assistant Professor, UBC
- PhD, University of British Columbia, 2015
Dr. Morgan Roberts is a Senior Research Scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre. She is an immunologist who earned a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia in 2015, investigating how the regulation of signaling thresholds in innate immune cells affects mucosal immune responses. She then joined the Vancouver Prostate Centre as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Peter Black’s lab, where she gained expertise in basic and translational immuno-oncology and in pre-clinical evaluation of novel therapeutics for bladder cancer.
Dr. Roberts’ lab uses a combination of fundamental and translational research to gain insight into the mechanisms of anti-cancer immunity and immune evasion in bladder cancer. The primary goal of her research program is to gain an understanding of the underlying immuno-biology of bladder cancer in order to identify clinically actionable mechanisms of immune evasion and ultimately improve patient outcomes. As part of this work, Dr. Roberts’ lab is investigating how sex-dependent regulation of tumor-immune interactions affects outcomes in women with bladder cancer.
Dr. Roberts has been supported by various awards throughout her career, including an American Urological Association Research Scholar Award and a Cancer Research Society Scholarships for the Next Generation of Scientists award. Her research has also been supported through grants from various funding agencies, including an operating grant from the Cancer Research Society.
