Dr. Ozgun is a clinician-scientist with a focus on genitourinary malignancies, particularly kidney and bladder cancers. As a Scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre and a Medical Oncologist at BC Cancer Vancouver Centre, she leads translational research initiatives aimed at advancing biomarker-driven precision oncology. Her work integrates molecular diagnostics, immuno-oncology, and adaptive clinical trial design to optimize treatment strategies and improve patient outcomes.
Originally trained in Turkiye, Dr. Ozgun completed her medical degree and oncology training before pursuing research and clinical fellowships in Canada. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the VPC under the mentorship of Dr. Lucia Nappi, where she utilized proteomic and miRNA analyses to identify novel biomarkers in metastatic kidney cancer.
Currently, Dr. Ozgun co-leads studies investigating the tumor microenvironment in renal cell carcinoma and is developing an investigator-initiated clinical trial exploring immune response dynamics. In bladder cancer, she is involved in ctDNA-guided therapy and chronoimmunotherapy research. She is an active member of national and international research networks, including the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) and SWOG.
Dr. Ozgun is dedicated to driving innovation at the intersection of clinical oncology and translational science to enhance the precision and impact of cancer care.
